“Remember Those in Prison”
Introduction:
Begin with a personal story or a current event that highlights the importance of compassion and outreach.
Become a Chaplain…. At ECF…..
Introduce the theme of the sermon: the call to remember and minister to those in prison.
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 25:36, 40: “I was in prison and you came to visit me… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Hebrews 13:3: “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
**1. Jesus’ Example of Compassion:
Discuss how Jesus spent time with those considered outcasts, including tax collectors and sinners
(Mark 2:17). 17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Highlight the story of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10) and how Jesus’ interaction led to his transformation.
**2. The Call to Serve:
Emphasize the biblical mandate to care for the marginalized, including prisoners.
